Resolved Question: Have you been to Mecca? Few questions…?
I am curious if it carries the dangers as written about on online travel guides. Also have you ever seen a white or other non Arabic Muslim there? I am curious how they are treated. If white Muslims are suspected?

Resolved Question: if jesus, mohammed, and moses were proven not to exist……?

Resolved Question: if jesus, mohammed, and moses were proven not to exist……?
if i say that jesus did not exist and somehow prove the fact that he never existed .. do you think that there will still be Christianity?also for islam , and judaism, it is all centered around a figure the “prophet”… so if we prove moses never existed and mohammed never existed then there would be no islam, or judaism? also all of the religion originated in the middle east and the basis of the religion was laid down when prophets traveled, from one place to another.. ex mohammed traveled from mecca to medina.. its just that in eastern religion like Hinduism, ans Shintoism, and Buddhism, even if you prove god wrong you can follow the religion b/e they think religion as way of life they don’t care if god did not exist they just want the philosophy behind the sacred texts.. whereas a Christian, musilims, and jews think that there is only one god so if the prophets were proven not to exist then all three of the religion falls apart. b/e there would no savior to save them comments?

Resolved Question: Can I travel to Saudi Arabia and hold a proChristian demonstration?
I heard a Muslim imam recently, who called Christianity a false religion. He lives in Saudi Arabia, and I was deeply offended by his statement. Can I travel to Saudi with a group of Christians and protest his views, for he has greatly offended the one true Lord Jesus Christ. I would like to get about 10,000 Christians to demonstrate in Riyaad or Mecca. Can I go do this? The point of the question is this: Muslims are allowed to protest in a western country whenever they feel their religion is insulted. Why can’t Christians do the same in a Muslim country, because they’re not democratic and tolerant. Why must westerners always be tolerant and accept Muslim radicals, even when they kill movie makers like VanGogh in Holland, or drive Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim and out of parliament because of her criticisms of Islam? Why should western countries tolerate this rubbish when it’s not in their best interest?

Mecca and Main Street: Muslim Life in America after 9/11
Mecca and Main Street: Muslim Life in America after 9/11 Islam is Americas fastest growing religion, with more than six million Muslims in the United States, all living in the shadow of 9/11. Who are our Muslim neighbors? What are their beliefs and desires? How are they coping with life under the War on Terror?
In Mecca and Main Street, noted author and journalist Geneive Abdo offers illuminating answers to these questions. Gaining unprecedented access to Muslim communities in America, she traveled across the country, visiting schools, mosques, Islamic centers, radio stations, and homes. She reveals a community tired of being judged by American perceptions of Muslims overseas and eager to tell their own stories. Abdo brings these stories vividly to life, allowing us to hear their own voices and inviting us to understand their hopes and their fears.
Inspiring, insightful, tough-minded, and even-handed, this book will appeal to those curious (or fearful) about the Muslim presence in America. It will also be warmly welcomed by the Muslim community.

Resolved Question: any muslims or 8th grade teachers?
i have to right this paper for school pleas read! any ideas or corrections?Islam Muslims are people who follow the Islam religion. There are many Muslims around the world and it is a rapidly growing religion. I will be explaining some of their beliefs, five pillars, and symbols. They believed in one God. The God is called Allah. Muslims believe in angels but the call them messengers of God; one of the messengers of God came to Muhammad and gave him their holy book. The name of the holy book is the Qur’an. The five pillars are important to their religion. One of the five pillars was mentioned in the last paragraph they only have one God. Muslims have to pray five times a day. Once in their life they have to travel to a city called Mecca, this is where Muhammad got the Qur’an. During the month of Ramadan they have to fast, which means they cant eat or drink anything during the day but they can at night. They also have to give money to poor people. There are many symbols in the Islam continue: religion. A crescent, a five pointed star, and the color green are some symbols usually used together. The black stone is an important object to them, when Muslims walk by it they try to kiss it. In my opinion this is a strict and complicated religion.

Resolved Question: Why do Muslims need to travel to Mecca once in their lifetime?

The worship of the Goddess

Visit http://www.reggaerings.com The female symbol is a symbol for the Mother Goddess; she is the life giver (Hebrew: chavvah = EVA) like the female earth, who gives life. Shiva and the Mother Goddess are still present until today in the Kaaba and mostly men (!) worship the black stone inside the female Goddess symbol on a corner on the Kaaba in Mecca, and after a precise washing procedure, they kiss and touch devote the female symbol. Like the Hindus at Mt. Kailash, they turn around seven times the Kaaba. The female part of Shiva is the black Kali, the destroyer of life. The white Mt. Kailash is a symbol for Shiva, because Shiva is the creator, AND the black destroyer of live. His main symbol is the phallus. He is sitting there on the white Mt. Kailash in timeless meditation with his wife Parvati. As a symbol of lingam and yoni this was not only be worshipped in India, but also by the people in Arabia (Sanskrit: ‘Arbab_stahn’ - ‘Land of horses’) long before Mohammed has had his spiritual visions. Now the yoni/lingam symbol in Mina is a place where pilgrims throw little stones to it. But they do no really know, why they do that. The Shiva male symbol is present in the towers of the Mosques, but was also distributed all over Europe, as the tree in spring, when life begins again in nature, as p.e. in Bavaria in Germany. There wearing then nine year old girl’s candles with a serpent, which is also a symbol of Shiva on the ‘White Sunday’. The flying white horse Kalki from the Veda’s of India, which is also present in the old stories told about Mohammed, and also in the Nordic myths of Scandinavia as the horse of Odin. The Ankh symbol (’life’) from Egypt contains the red female symbol and the male symbol. Knowledge is the best weapon. Love is the best tool actually. There is not exclusive claim to spiritual symbols or God; there is only the same one truth to be recognized. Religious worship of idols is no spiritual act. There may be more spiritual essence in a live event of music from pop stars or from all the great YouTube live musicians. Resolved Question: Traveling to Holy places?
Since the majority of us will never be able to travel to Israel or Lourdes, or Fatima, or Mecca, or where you call your Holy Shrines, how would you make where you are at, Holy? Meaning, making not just your own house and family happier, holier, and better, but your neighborhood, town, etc….. How to turn around the indifference and violence to communities that nurture and care for each other. I know I’ll get sarcastic remarks, that’s a given…. But I would appreciate all answers, even if you reply blowing up your neighbors house, but remember, true holiness, or should I call it goodness for the atheists is to be good and nice to a person that you would rather see in traction.

Resolved Question: Would you go?
If time travel became commercially available, and they ran tours to see the crucifixion? Would it become a Mecca for Christians? Yes, I know this is an old saw in the scifi world. Well, at least three people have created a sufficient paradox to destroy history as we know it so far. You’d totally lose your ‘failure of temporal causality’ insurance claims.

Resolved Question: Doesn’t this blow the whole “Barack is a Muslim” BS outta the water?
In the eyes of Islam, marrying a Christian woman (Barack’s wife) would be a sin. So would Joining a Christian Church. So would not traveling to Mecca each year. So would not praying to Allah 5 times a day. Not to mention, there is no evidence that Obama practiced Islamic rituals growing up. Yes, his father was Muslim but agnostic and did not want Barack to do such rituals. It is in his book, and all over the internet. All it takes is a little research. And as far as the “Barack went to a Muslim school” rumor- that was in Jakarta, Indonesia. He attended it for 2 years only, and it was NOT a muslim school. Children of all religions were welcome. There were mainly Christians, Muslims, and Buddhists. WOW “Barry Obama” just doesn’t get it and wants to remain one of the sheeple. geekstreat, it was the NATIONAL ANTHEM, not the Pledge. Get informed. smsmith is just a gullible moron… Keith Ellison was the ONLY congressman to ever be sworn in on the Koran.

Resolved Question: What do you believe is the greatest House of God (Church, Mosque ect.) on earth?
For me its St Peters in Vatican City, closely followed by the Grand Mosque in Mecca (forget its name) and then Both St Patrick’s Basilica in Melbourne, Australia and St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland tie for 3rd. I travel a lot and have been to most holy places and these are the ones that have captured my faith and imagination. Its amazing the lengths some people go to to express their faith. What do you think? Ah the Taj Mahaal is not a house of God, rather a tomb. It is pretty impresive though

Resolved Question: Month-long trip to Europe…some questions and advice?
My husband and I are wanting to take a month-long trip to Europe next month after I graduate. We want a round trip ticket to London, and to buy a rail pass so we can explore all the other countries while getting to see the countryside from the ground as opposed to the air. We would like to see Paris, Rome, Venice, Amsterdam, London, Dublin, Athens, and all the other big cultural meccas. Am I missing anywhere else interesting that is a must-see? How much does a rail pass cost that would give us unlimited travel throughout Europe? Any input would be awesome. Coop: You think? You wanna go with me? You can be my tour guide…<3

The Siege of Mecca: The Forgotten Uprising in Islam’s Holiest Shrine and the Birth of al-Qaeda
The Siege of Mecca: The Forgotten Uprising in Islam's Holiest Shrine and the Birth of al-Qaeda

On November 20, 1979, worldwide attention was focused on Tehran, where the Iranian hostage crisis was entering its third week. The same morning—the first of a new Muslim century—hundreds of gunmen stunned the world by seizing Islam’s holiest shrine, the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Armed with rifles that they had smuggled inside coffins, these men came from more than a dozen countries, launching the first operation of global jihad in modern times. Led by a Saudi preacher named Juhayman al Uteybi, they believed that the Saudi royal family had become a craven servant of American infidels, and sought a return to the glory of uncompromising Islam. With nearly 100,000 worshippers trapped inside the holy compound, Mecca’s bloody siege lasted two weeks, inflaming Muslim rage against the United States and causing hundreds of deaths.

Despite U.S. assistance, the Saudi royal family proved haplessly incapable of dislodging the occupier, whose ranks included American converts to Islam. In Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini blamed the Great Satan—the United States —for defiling the shrine, prompting mobs to storm and torch American embassies in Pakistan and Libya. The desperate Saudis finally enlisted the help of French commandos led by tough-as-nails Captain Paul Barril, who prepared the final assault and supplied poison gas that knocked out the insurgents. Though most captured gunmen were quickly beheaded, the Saudi royal family responded to this unprecedented challenge by compromising with the rebels’ supporters among the kingdom’s most senior clerics, helping them nurture and export Juhayman’s violent brand of Islam around the world.

This dramatic and immensely consequential story was barely covered in the press in the pre-CNN, pre–Al Jazeera days, as Saudi Arabia imposed an information blackout and kept foreign correspondents away. Yaroslav Trofimov now penetrates this veil of silence, interviewing for the first time scores of direct participants in the siege, including former terrorists, and drawing on hundreds of documents that had been declassified on his request. Written with the pacing, detail, and suspense of a real-life thriller, The Siege of Mecca reveals how Saudi reaction to the uprising in Mecca set free the forces that produced the attacks of 9/11, and the harrowing circumstances that surround us today.

Standing Alone: An American Woman’s Struggle for the Soul of Islam (Plus)
Standing Alone: An American Woman's Struggle for the Soul of Islam (Plus)

As President Bush is preparing to invade Iraq, Wall Street Journal correspondent Asra Nomani embarks on a dangerous journey from Middle America to the Middle East to join more than two million fellow Muslims on the hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca required of all Muslims once in their lifetime. Mecca is Islam’s most sacred city and strictly off limits to non-Muslims. On a journey perilous enough for any American reporter, Nomani is determined to take along her infant son, Shibli — living proof that she, an unmarried Muslim woman, is guilty of zina, or “illegal sex.” If she is found out, the puritanical Islamic law of the Wahabbis in Saudi Arabia may mete out terrifying punishment. But Nomani discovers she is not alone. She is following in the four-thousand-year-old footsteps of another single mother, Hajar (known in the West as Hagar), the original pilgrim to Mecca and mother of the Islamic nation.

Each day of her hajj evokes for Nomani the history of a different Muslim matriarch: Eve, from whom she learns about sin and redemption; Hajar, the single mother abandoned in the desert who teaches her about courage; Khadijah, the first benefactor of Islam and trailblazer for a Muslim woman’s right to self-determination; and Aisha, the favorite wife of the Prophet Muhammad and Islam’s first female theologian. Inspired by these heroic Muslim women, Nomani returns to America to confront the sexism and intolerance in her local mosque and to fight for the rights of modern Muslim women who are tired of standing alone against the repressive rules and regulations imposed by reactionary fundamentalists.

Nomani shows how many of the freedoms enjoyed centuries ago have been erased by the conservative brand of Islam practiced today, giving the West a false image of Muslim women as veiled and isolated from the world. Standing Alone in Mecca is a personal narrative, relating the modern-day lives of the author and other Muslim women to the lives of those who came before, bringing the changing face of women in Islam into focus through the unique lens of the hajj. Interweaving reportage, political analysis, cultural history, and spiritual travelogue, this is a modern woman’s jihad, offering for Westerners a never-before-seen look inside the heart of Islam and the emerging role of Muslim women.
