Resolved Question: The modern Roman Colosseum?
In the Colosseum in Rome people would gather to see Christians put to death in the most savage and brutal ways imaginable. Many times Christians were burnt alive or crucified, while others were fed to wild animals. What ever the manner of death these criminals were delt with unerring cruelty, ‘justice’ being swift and final. After reading a news story about a man sentenced to 4,060 years in jail (in this question his crime is irrelevant) I have to ask, Has the justice system become like a modern version of Roman Colosseum? Given, according to the story, he was middle aged at the time of sentencing, and each count against him drew a sentence of 40 years, serving all at once would have seen him either die in prison or very soon after getting out. However the judge ordered that he serve each sentence consecutively and since he would have died in prison anyway I can only guess that it is done to make a point, much like the Christians and the lions in Rome. This along with many other cases similar have lead me to wonder if our justice system has become akin to the Roman Colosseum, a cheap show designed for nothing more than to thrill the crowd, watch the news to find out how high the sentences will go, much like a sporting result. So my question is, has our justice system become no more than a show to thrill the ‘ignorant masses’, or is it more? Please qualify your answers with examples. Thanks. dylan g: If looking at it through modern eyes yes this seems like persecution for their faith. However if we look at it like a Roman this is a crime just as shocking any modern day atrocity. I mean not believing in the Gods and doing it in public as well with out shame, the Horror!

It is all for t…

Open Question: Symbol- Brian Pillman Question?
Does anybody know what the symbol on Brian Pillman’s shirt is? I think I’ve seen it before so I don’t think it is just something he made up. Picture is in the link. It is the symbol over his face. http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Arena/2455/pillman.jpg
