Resolved Question: If the U.S.A. annexed Antarctica, would we be the worlds largest country?

Resolved Question: If the U.S.A. annexed Antarctica, would we be the worlds largest country?

Open Question: help! please! easy 10 points.?
please give me 5 historical sites in ANTARCTICA. please. please include the source if possible. :)

Voting Question: When/where was the last unclaimed land on earth?
When was the last unclaimed land on earth claimed? Who claimed it and where is it? I suppose I should include some constraints, such as: - I am talking about land (not sea or air or otherwise) that has some permanency (has existed for at least hundreds of years) and reasonable size (> 1 acre) to it - Let’s exclude land that has never been inhabited by a permanent/long-term (> 10 yrs) population of at least 50 people. I’m really interested in habitable places. - Let’s exclude Antarctica because that’s no fun (too cold) - Unclaimed should mean that no group of people (indigenous or otherwise) > 50 in size was living on the land for > 10 yrs, nor had such a group stated a claim to the land at the time it was finally claimed. That is, there was no sizable dispute of claim. - Let’s assume habitation as would be viable given 1600’s technology - This question assumes that there is no currently unclaimed land I do not know the answer to this question myself. I am looking for the answer. I do not think the answer is “America” (presumably the USA) or Australia. The land of these countries is far too big, valuable, and easily located/occupied. Please provide a reference and/or some sort of evidence when answering this question. Places that had native peoples in prehistoric times can still be candidates for the last unclaimed land as long as those natives had moved away, died out, or otherwise not laid claim at the time. Madagascar (the main large island at least) has been continuously inhabited for at least 1000 years, so I don’t think that’s the answer. New Zealand (at least the main North and South Islands) has been continuously inhabited since at least 1300. When Europeans got there in the 1700’s, I presume that the Māori would have said that the land was theirs if they were asked.

Resolved Question: Should We annex Antarctica, and become the largest country in the world?
I think this is what Bush should be doing. He and America are already unpopular, so we don’t have to worry about what the world thinks of us. This would be a good place to send the guys in Gitmo Would you approve if Hillary was sent there to be the Governor?

Resolved Question: Will you help me plan a trip to Antarctica?! …please?
me and some of my friends are planning to visit antartica in 4 years. yes four years is a long time, but this is ANTARCTICA we’re talking about! these friedns of mine and i have traveled to africa togehter last year, so we’re hoping antarctica will not only complete meeting all the continents, but also another trip of a lifetime so, being very serious about this trip, we are organizing this trip early and planning to use all four years to do so any sensible advice, sites, books, information, facts, etc etc etc would be more than a great help! we’re really trying to look for diffrent ways to get their, like specific companys to follow [cruise, tours, boat, plane, etc] and also maybe hotels we can stay at, specific sites over there we can visit, and the cheapest but still a comfortable environment… thanks in advance guys! i really appreciate it XOXO

Antarktos Rising - A Novel
Antarktos Rising - A Novel A phenomenon known as crustal displacement shifts the Earth’s crust, repositioning continents and causing countless deaths. In the wake of the global catastrophe, the world struggles to take care of its displaced billions. But Antarctica, freshly thawed and blooming, has emerged as a new hope. Rather than wage a world war no nation can endure, the leading nations devise a competition, a race to the center of Antarctica, with the three victors dividing the continent. It is within this race that Mirabelle Whitney, one of the few surviving experts on the continent, grouped with an American special forces unit, finds herself. But the dangers awaiting the team are far worse than feared; beyond the sour history of a torn family, beyond the nefarious intentions of their human enemies, beyond the ancient creatures reborn through anhydrobiosis-there are the Nephilim. The world races to claim a new continent, only to find it already taken.
