Priceless artifacts’ new home

Greece moves its priceless antiquities by crane from the Acropolis to a museum below. Oct 14 - Three large cranes transferred a 2.5 tonne sculpture belonging to the mantle of the Parthenon over rooftops to the new museum 400 metres below despite winds that picked up at the site. The operation to move more than 4,000 sculptures, statues and artifacts in metal crates weighing more than 300 tonnes to the new Acropolis museum will take up to three months, with breaks for heavy rain or winds. Penny Tweedie reports.
